Bunyoro has partnered with MTN Uganda to unveil the first ever cycling competition which will be held across the 15 counties in the Kingdom. Dubbed: Bunyoro Amazasa (counties) bicycle completion was launched on July 28 at Rukurato court yard in Hoima City. The MTN sponsored competition targets adults of sound mind, both males and females aged 18 years and above. It will be launched in Kiryandongo County on September 3, 2022. The government has been reminded to expedite the operationalisation of the long awaited public university in Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom. The call was made during 28th Empango -coronation celebrations of Omukama Solomon Gafabusa Iguru at Rukurato buildings in Hoima City on Saturday. Hundreds of people participated in the Empango (coronation) anniversary run organised by Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom on Thursday morning. The run, which was initiated in 2015, is one of the activities to mark the 28 coronation anniversary of the Omukama Solomon Gafabusa Iguru. Over 1500 people have benefited from a two-day free health camp which closed on Saturday. The health camp which was held at the Rukurato buildings in Hoima City was organised by Omugo (Queen) Margret Karunga Adyeeri of Bunyoro Kitara-Kingdom. Business owners in Hoima City are crying foul over the runaway rent prices that are pushing some out. Hoima which was elevated to a city status in July 2021 has since 2019 been charging an 8 per cent property tax on tenanted commercial buildings.
