Parents of a baby who was injured by a chimpanzee in Maramu village, Budongo Sub-County, Masindi district on Wednesday is crying for financial assistance to help them in treating the baby. The four-month-old boy was grabbed from its mother’s back by the chimpanzee in the forest where she had gone to fetch water and sustained injuries in the private parts as the mother struggled to rescue it from the irate ape. Eight Premio cars have been stolen in the last two weeks of December in a wave of vehicle theft that has hit Bunyoro sub-region. The Albertine region police spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, said the cases have been reported in Hoima where three cars have been stolen, Masindi and Kikuube districts that have lost two cars each and Kakumiro where one has been stolen. Masindi district council has passed a resolution backing the government proposal to gazette Budongo central forest into a National Park. This was during an extra-ordinary council held on December 8, 2022. The motion was tabled by the district secretary for production natural resources and marketing, Geofrey Kiiza Bigabwa and seconded by the councilor representing Nyantonzi sub county Christopher Acidri.
