The state minister for public service, Mary Grace Mugasa, on Friday flagged off the distribution of bicycles to the leaders in Hoima city to facilitate them in their work. A total of 146 bicycles were distributed to LCI chairpersons and 16 to the ward councilors at a function held at Hoima City offices. The 16 wards whose councilors received the bicycles include Kibingo, Kiduma, Kamsingo, Kihuukya, Central, Western, Northern, southern. Hoima authorities have gazzeted a place where students coming for holidays from Ebola hit Mubende district will be tested from as a measure of combating the ongoing epidemic in the country. The judiciary has opened up a high court circuit in Hoima bringing the number of high courts in Bunyoro sub-region to two. The court was launched on Tuesday by the Principal Judge, Flavian Zeija at its premises in Kijungu cell, Hoima city. Zeija said the creation of the High Court was necessitated by the need to reduce the distance people especially those with capital offences have been traveling to the neighbouring Masindi district to access justice. Hundreds of participants have graced Bunyoro Kitara diocese’s golden jubilee marathon. The marathon which was organised by Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese in celebration of 50 years of its existence was flagged off by Rt. Rev Samuel Egesa Bogere, the Bishop of Bukedi Diocese at St. Peters Cathedral Duhaga in Hoima city on Saturday morning. The Daily Monitor Report dated July 25, this year, indicated that eight in every 10 Karimojong households had no or limited food. Leaders claimed that hunger-related diseases had killed more than 900 residents since the start of the year, with the misery made worse by an increase in raids and massive crop failure as a result of drought. Police in Hoima are holding Prophet Denis Kintu after a video circulated online showing him apparently flogging his church ushers. Kintu of the Empowerment City Church located along the paved Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya road in Kyesiga cell, West Division, Hoima city was arrested on Wednesday evening.
